The 2021 Topps 70 Years of Topps Baseball Chrome #70YTC-28 Shohei Ohtani is one of the standout cards from a landmark release — and it's graded PSA 10 Gem Mint. This Chrome Refractor insert was produced exclusively for retail tin boxes as part of Topps' 70th Anniversary celebration, making it a tin-exclusive short print with far tighter distribution than a standard insert. The card captures Ohtani during his 2021 Angels campaign — the very season he won the AL MVP unanimously, the same year this card was made.

The context around Ohtani today makes this card even more compelling. He's since signed a record-shattering $700 million, 10-year deal with the Dodgers, won back-to-back MVPs in 2024 and 2025, delivered two World Series championships, and became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season. He is, without argument, the most collectible active player in the hobby.

  • Set: 2021 Topps 70 Years of Topps Baseball Chrome — a 70-card insert set celebrating past Topps designs, Chrome Refractor version exclusive to retail tins
  • Card Number: #70YTC-28 — short print, tin-exclusive distribution
  • Grade: PSA 10 Gem Mint — the highest grade achievable
  • Market comps: PSA 10 copies of this card have sold in the $45–$60 range on recent eBay auction results; raw copies asking $50–$106 across the secondary market

A PSA 10 example of Ohtani's most iconic chrome insert from his first MVP season — with a four-time MVP resume behind it now — is the kind of card that belongs in a serious PC, not a binder pocket. The 70th Anniversary Chrome short print is a collector's card first and a conversation piece second. Own it graded perfect, or wish you had.
