The Ninetales #12/102 is one of the original 16 Holographic Foil Rares from the 1999 Wizards of the Coast Pokémon Base Set — the set that launched the entire English-language Pokémon TCG and built the foundation of the modern collecting hobby. Every serious vintage Pokémon collection runs through this 102-card release, and Ninetales sits at the top of the holo rares list as one of the most recognizable Fire-types in the game.

Illustrated by Ken Sugimori, this Stage 1 Fire-type packs 80 HP, the utility Lure attack, and a devastating Fire Blast for 80 damage — the full classic toolkit. Ninetales was also the featured holo inside the original Brushfire Theme Deck, cementing its identity as a cornerstone of Base Set lore from day one.

  • Card: Ninetales — Holo Rare #12/102, Base Set (WOTC, 1999)
  • Condition: Lightly Played (LP)
  • Type/Stage: Fire / Stage 1 | Artist: Ken Sugimori
  • Recent LP comps: Unlimited LP copies moving in the $15–$25 range on eBay, with raw market averages sitting around $15–$20 for standard Unlimited printings

LP Base Set holos offer the sweet spot for collectors who want authentic 1999 WOTC cardboard in hand — real vintage character, no PSA premium. If you're building out an original Base Set holo collection or hunting down a Ninetales for a Fire-type or Gen 1 master set, this is your entry point. Snap it now before the next wave of nostalgia-driven demand pushes LP vintage holos back up the charts.
