This is a card from the first main expansion of the Pokémon TCG Neo Series — released in Japan as Gold, Silver, to a New World — the set that introduced Generation II Pokémon to the card game for the first time. The Japanese expansion dropped on February 4, 2000, a full ten months before the English Neo Genesis release. That makes this the original printing — the version that started it all.

Artwork is by the legendary Ken Sugimori , depicting Slowking centered in the middle of a snow storm — a striking holo image that holds up as one of the most visually distinctive cards of the Neo era.

The Mind Games Pokémon Power was so dominant that when the English version removed the "Active Pokémon only" stipulation, players were able to stack multiple Slowking from the bench — so greatly affecting an opponent's ability to play Trainer cards that the English version was banned in 2002. Before the ban landed, it had already won both age divisions at the 2002 World Championships.
